The usual time for Catholics in the Diocese of La Crosse to be confirmed is in their Sophmore year of high school or age 16. Annually our Chippewa Falls parishes host a combined two year confirmation program for our young people.
- Schedule for Year 1 & Year 2
- Year 1 for grade 9 and will start in September (CFUSD children)
- Year 2 for grade 10 runs from January - April, first meeting is in October (both Catholic school and CFUSD childen)
- Teens in Catholic school and those in Goldsmith Religious Education program attend the sacramental preparation sessions and retreats together during Year 2.
- St. Peter and St. Charles Borromeo Confirmandi interview just prior to confirmation with our Pastor Rev. Msgr. Michael Gorman
- Mass with confirmation is held during the Easter season with the Most Rev. William Callahan, bishop of the La Crosse Diocese.
Paperwork
- Confirmation registration for St. Peter and St. Charles Borromeo.
- The Confirmation fee of $50 should be paid when registering.

- If you prefer to pay by cash or check, you may put it in the Sunday collection marked Confirmation Fee with your child's name. Make the check out to your home parish. You may also mail it to the Parish Central Office at 810 Pearl St., Chippewa Falls, WI 54729
- If Confirmandi were not Baptized at their current parish, either St. Charles Borromeo or St. Peter the Apostle parish, a copy of their Baptismal Certificate is required.
- Sponsor form and Saint name also need to be chosen and turned into the parish office.
A few other guidelines
- Youth preparing for Confirmation must attend Mass regularly on Sundays and Holy Days.
- Volunteering within the liturgy and parish events is highly encouraged
- Bringing up the gifts
- Altar servers
- Hand Maids or Sacristant
- Lectors
- Shin-Dig or Boar-O-Mania Festival events
- Family prayer and scripture reading is an essential part of the sacramental preparation process. Teens should know basic prayers and be reading the Bible at home with their families and on their own.
- During the year of confirmation, parents attend sessions offered specifically for them during this process.
- Although most teens are confirmed as sophmores, the specific grade is not as important as the young person’s desire and eagerness to receive the sacrament. Families are encouraged to pray and discern with their child to help him/her know when he is ready to begin formal preparation for the sacrament.
- Catechesis is not just learning facts about the sacraments (or the church). Catechesis nurtures and deepens our relationship with God.
- Catechesis does not end with Confirmation. Catechesis is a lifelong journey!

THE SACRAMENT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. . . . “By the sacrament of Confirmation [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.”

Confirmation, together with Baptism and Eucharist, form the Sacraments of Initiation that are all intimately connected. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is “sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit” and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.
