Sacred Worship Committee

The Sacred Worship Committee is dedicated to promoting the dignity and joyous celebration of Mass and the sacraments, and fostering devotional life at home and in our parish.
There are many opportunities for volunteers to participate in the Mass or do behind-the-scenes work to enhance the worship experience at St. Charles Borromeo. Please thoughtfully consider the many activities listed here and let us know how you would like to help.
Lector/Reader 
For daily and weekend Masses
Prayerfully practice first and/or second reading. A training and practice manual is available.
Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Eucharist
Training given prior to being commissioned to distribute the precious Body and Blood.
Ushers
Greeting parishioners
On-the-job training given by seasoned ushers.
Servers
Adult and young people (going into 4th grade)
Training given to individuals who want to honor and serve the Lord at Mass.
Gift Bearers
Young people/families/adults who carry up the host plates, wine and water at weekend Masses. Let the ushers know at the Mass you are attending.
Sacristans
For those parishioners who wish to participate behind the scenes. Training given for men, women and young people who want to serve the Lord by preparing the altar and caring for the vessels used at Mass.
Art and Environment
Committee members plan and implement the decorating of the church. Seasonal workers to decorate for the seasons of the church year, including Advent, Christmas, Ordinary Time, Lent and Easter.
Linen Washers
Individuals are instructed how to wash and care for purificators and hand cloths. (scheduled once a month)
Church Cleaning
Washing pews and dusting wood, done twice a year in the fall and spring.
Sanctuary Cleaning
Primarily dusting, scheduled once a month.
Flower/Plant Care
Seasonal work, watering flowers during the Christmas Season, Easter Season (through Pentecost) and green plant care once a month. Planting of flowers in outside planters and the care of them during the summer months.
Washing of Altar Server Albs
Albs, done quarterly
Occasionally needed - sewing/repair of cloth items. Cleaning of candlesticks and other miscellaneous.
